Ameren’s co-workers care deeply about protecting our shared environment because we live, work, lead and volunteer in the Missouri and Illinois communities we serve. That’s why we work to reduce emissions and waste, preserve natural resources, increase the use of renewable and other forms of cleaner energy, and create programs to encourage energy efficiency. At the same time, Ameren must establish a balance between the benefits to the environment and costs that can impact our customers’ quality of life and our company. We believe a sound environmental policy benefits all stakeholders by taking all these elements into account.
Priorities
- Cleaner, more renewable and diverse power-generation sources
- Responsible energy policy
- Reduced environmental impacts
- Water conservation and quality
Scientists, students and enthusiastic stargazers had their eyes on the skies on Monday, Aug. 21, when the first total eclipse of the sun in nearly 40 years crossed the United States. For Saint Louis University meteorologists and their Quantum Weather partner Ameren Missouri, the eclipse offered a unique opportunity. Data collected allowed scientists a rare opportunity to better understand the eclipse's effects on temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind speed, wind direction and rainfall.
